Chula Vista, California

It’s September 20, 2021, we arrived in Chula Vista, California, located just outside of San Diego. We had made a reservation for a 9-night stay at Chula Vista RV Resort. We enjoyed our time here. The RV park had a store, laundry room, swimming pool with spa, several large bathrooms with hot showers. It was a beautiful, clean, and well-managed resort with tall palm trees and flowering shrubs. On several days of the week, food trucks would park by the office and sell different kinds of food.

This RV park was scheduled to be torn down the week after our departure. A new RV park had already been built and was located just down the street. I’m sure it’s a very nice park, but what we noticed when we drove by was all the landscaping was new, so all the palm trees and shrubs were small, so there isn’t any shade. We were sad to hear about this closure. I think many RVers will miss this gem!

Right outside the gate towards the water side of the park is the Chula Vista Marina, and public waterfront boardwalk. This boardwalk heads down to the city park in one direction and towards the Marina’s office in the other. Next to the Marina’s office is a restaurant called Galley at the Marina. Here we enjoyed many meals and watched football games when aired. On Friday and Saturday nights they had live music. It was a fun place eat, watch football and relax.

During our stay in Chula Vista, I had a birthday, so Rick surprised me with a visit to the San Diego Zoo. What an awesome day!! I haven’t been to the Zoo since my kids were little.

Rick took so many cool pictures, too many to choose from. I could have filled up pages with pictures, but here are 3 of our favorite.

We loved our stay in Chula Vista, but it’s time to hit the road. Next stop, border crossing into Baja California and our first destination Rosarito.
